ANC, Yahoo! Philippines ink news content partnership
♥
Friday, July 19, 2013@7:02 AM
The Philippines’ most trusted 24/7 news channel ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, and Yahoo! Philippines, the #1 source of online news in the country, join forces to provide a premium news content to online users in the region, and Filipinos across the world .
In a first of its kind collaboration in Southeast Asia between two powerful media voices, the partnership is a step towards fulfilling daily habits of online users around news consumption. The partnership enables Yahoo! Philippines, which has a daily average user base of 2.1 million, to build a strong presence on TV. The move makes ANC its top content partner, providing its network with the latest news and information culled directly from the live on air feed of the award-winning news channel. Similarly, ANC will have its own section on the Yahoo! Philippines News. It will serve as the digital hub of the news channel where users can find online articles, photos, and video clips of news reports, features and interviews aired on ANC. ANC has been front and center in television news reporting since its launch in 1996. It solidified its reputation as the gold standard of news channels in the Philippines by being first-in, last-out in the coverage of all major events in history in the past 17 years. It was also the first Philippine news channel to engage netizens through social networking sites. By partnering with Yahoo!, ANC will be able to leverage Yahoo!’s enormous reach and bring the Philippines’s most trusted source of news to the mobile generation of Filipinos. ANC’s Chief Operating Officer Cilette Liboro-Co said, “The partnership will cement ANC's position as the most trusted and reliable news source in the country not only on television but also online. With Yahoo! Philippines as our digital hub, we will be able to bring ANC’s expertise in news delivery and analysis with context to a wider audience.” Liboro-Co added “ANC has a very strong following among digital news consumers that rely on it for credible up-to-the-minute news and we will deliver that and more on the ANC Yahoo! Page.” The partnership demonstrates how Yahoo! is building scale, reaching more targeted audiences, and getting innovative with news content. Commenting on the partnership, Kate Delos Reyes, Country Manager and Country Editor, Yahoo! Philippines said, “This partnership is a true web and on-air collaboration that aims to reinvent how consumers access news across screens. It will enable us to bring together cutting edge developments in news creation and delivery by combining ANC’s top class journalism and Yahoo!’s enormous scale and technology.” She added, “Every day millions of Filipinos turn to our site for their daily dose of news and we want to continue being a trusted source of news and information for them. Yahoo! is committed on bringing the most personalized and relevant information to our users and this partnership helps us to deliver on that promise.” Yahoo! has been on the forefront of online news. It is category leader in many countries, and is a trusted source for millions across the world. It has pioneered many content partnerships, such as with ABC News in the USA. What Yahoo! also brings to the table is a strong personalization technology that allows users to connect with what matters most to them. ANC Yahoo! goes live on Monday, July 22, 2013. The launch will be marked by an intensive joint coverage of President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III’s State of the Nation Address (SONA). Yahoo! and ANC will provide exclusive SONA-related content which the users can access through the web and view on cable TV. ### About Yahoo! Yahoo! is focused on making the world's daily habits more inspiring and entertaining. By creating highly personalized experiences for our users, we keep people connected to what matters most to them, across devices and around the world. In turn, we create value for advertisers by connecting them with the audiences that build their businesses. Yahoo! is headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., and has offices located throughout the Americas, Asia Pacific (APAC) and the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions. For more information, visit the pressroom (pressroom.yahoo.net) or the company's blog (yahoo.tumblr.com). About ANC ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel was originally established in 1996 as SNN, the Sarimanok News Network. SNN was the brainchild of the late Eugenio “Geny” Lopez Jr. who envisioned a TV station that would become the Filipinos’ primary source of news and information. Today, ANC is the top of mind channel for accurate and unbiased source of information and the go-to station for breaking news, wall-to-wall live news coverage and analysis with context in the Philippines. ANC can be viewed through Skycable and Destiny Cable in the greater Metro Manila area and various provincial operators nationwide. ANC is also bundled with The Filipino Channel and can be seen via satellite, IPTV, cable and mobile in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and some parts of Asia, including Japan and Singapore via Star Hub. This happened last year.
And I know it's just too late to blog about this now, but hey, we can always look back. (Haha. Lulusot pa) Truth is, I haven't posted these pictures because I was under the impression that taking them was forbidden. Wehehe. Because they confiscated my camera just right before we started rolling. So, here is my Malacanang experience (as I remember it, after six months) I belonged to Team 1 or the they-will-go-there-first-along-with-technical-people-for-ingress Team. We left ABS by 6:12 am, I must know because I checked-in to Foursquare. PROOF:
This really isn't my first time in Malacanang, I've been there once when we did the Strictly Politics interview with Sec. Jojo Ochoa, but this time it's a lot more different because the interviewee is the person holding the highest position in the land. Yeah, the PRESIDENT. Reason why we were extra early.
We arrived at the Malacanang Compound around 7 and whilst waiting for the right time to bring the equipments in, some ate their breakfast while we listen to Boom Gonzalez on the radio. I texted him and he greeted us. It almost felt like my elementary days on Nueva Ecija when I call Big Sound every day just to talk to the DJs. Hahaha.
Then, we were told that we will just be able to set-up by 10am or by 9am the latest.
Yes, we were two hours early.
So, I opted to walk around (in 4-inch heels!) to past the time and to drive away my boredom, I took these photos.
Time really flies so fast, cos it almost feel as if, we were just waiting for several minutes when we were called to set-up.
And here are some photooooos!
This bunch was taken at the other room where we put our recorder and monitors.
But of course, mawawala ba ang souvenir photos ng Associate Producer, Technical Producer at Director ng programa?
No more photos after these though, cos my camera had been confiscated by the security, hindi raw kasama sa equipment, darn!
So for your reference on how the show went, here's the full episode:

These past few days had been my
busiest. Talk about the Corona Impeachment Trial, forums here and
there, new projects and events to cover.
However, what's taking most
of my time is Square Off. The new season, new team members, new (and
not to mention old) debaters, (and new Hogwarts-inspired robes,
too!), everything is making me wish that I have more than 24 hours a
day, to meet deadlines, to please the bosses and sleep a little. I
won't mention fun anymore because working for this show is a helluva
ride for me, I meet different people, I learn from them as well as
their matches, and I'm actually developing myself in the process.
One way is talking to people because I interact with all of the
contenders, other one is writing. I have to write and produce a
profile script of the debaters who will be competing. Others
may find it tedious, but it's interesting enough for me, it's way too
challenging though. Difficult and grueling enough, the anxious me
wishes to skip this process. Perhaps because I am not that confident and maybe another reason is I want to prove myself to
everyone as well. So, I squeeze and extract myself so hard, but the
fear is still there, always there. The old scripts from last year's
debate may tell me I evolved into something way better this time
around, but I know I can do much more, and even though my motivated
mind firmly pushes myself to the limits, my frightened heart holds back.
Perhaps the biggest fear I must overcome. Labels: ANC, debaters, debating, personal, profiles script, Square Off, work, writing Comments 0 |
