![]() Yeah. I know this post is uber late already but forgive me people, I'm just busy or should I say, my brother just won't let me use our PC. Hahaha! :D Oh well, of truth be told, I've been searching for this article for a month already, good thing I saw a back-up copy in the hard drive of our PC. Hm, so there, here are my own sentiments about our school closing its main campus. :)) CHAOTIC: The relocation of CIC's basic education programs "What will happen to CIC Main?" - a question every parent, alumni and student even raised in PTA meetings, social gatherings and even in simple chats. It seems that everyone already knew about the 'big' relocation. Who wouldn't? Large streamers are mounted infront of CIC Main and New Site and in other places as well announcing the said remotion. Most Novo Ecijanos refused to believe it for many reasonable facts and what-will-they-do-to-the-building kinds of questions and the likes. While some others declined to accept the plan for emotional reasons, because, if truth be told, CIC, especially, CIC Main witnessed some of the unforgettable memories of most residents of Nueva Ecija, above all Cabanatueños who apparently, somehow studied in this school. Nonetheless, after months of speculations, CIC Main was formally closed last March 24. A lot of people may ask of what's the real purpose of the school to close its main campus and build a new one. Perhaps because of the fact that the administration have been complaining about the schools budget over and over again. They even use that argument to rebutt students' grievances about the school services and facilities, specifically, the cyber nook. Wouldn't the construction of a new building cost a lot? To think that they are assembling a new building for more or less 2000 students. Didn't you know that the construction of the CIC Chapel took years to start and years to finish? Yes, that very chapel which is just like half as big as the new building, even smaller. Why? That's because the money the school used to build the Chapel came from the P200-PTA ticket collected every year from every pupil. If they have enough money to build a new building right away, why wait for years for the Chapel to be constructed? The school may planned to build the Chapel out of donations which is entirely understandable but why do students still need to be at disadvantage if the school has that big money? So, why do CIC need a new building? It's like buying a new thing when the old one is still effective and working. Isn't the construction of a new building a clear example of money wastage? In a previous interview with Fr. Richmond Nilo, College President, he stated that one of his future plans for CIC is to be a one-campus school. WHAT FOR? There are a lot of school who have many campuses, but still, they managed to be one of the best schools of our country. De La Salle University is one example. DLSU only offers Graduate and Undergraduate courses while their preparatory or basic education programs are offered in their other campus which is La Salle Green Hills. Therefore, CIC on the other hand, cannot use the we-need-this-to-achieve-university-status excuse not just because of DLSU not having one joint campus yet still carry on quality education but none of the Phillipine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities' standard measurement requires a school to have all programs in one campus to be able to become a university. More over, Fr. Nilo believes that CIC will still be patronized by Novo Ecijanos for he supposes that people will follow CIC where ever it goes for the quality education it serves. It is a known fact that the school is highly patronized by generations of Novo Ecijanos, not just by the fact that it is the nearest or most accesible school but it beyond doubt promotes quality Catholic education. However, some parents are currently thinking of enrolling their kids to other school because of the relocation. "Hindi naman malayo ang Sumacab, pero mahirap pa rin dahil sa Lakewood ang entrance," says one mom of a pre-schooler. Right. Would you expect a four year old kid to travel all the way to Lakewood just for a one and a half class? CIC may address this problem with the school bus they are proposing to parents but still, some other kids still need to be supervised especially during lunch or break time. Now, CIC may be facing another challenge as some students and parents prefer another school than the 'new building'. How can the school get the money used in building back? Will they again devise PTA tickets? And what will really happen to CIC Main? ## Comments 0 |
